Everything You Need to Know About Honda Vehicle Warranties and Protection

Buying a Honda means more than just owning a vehicle known for its quality—it also comes with peace of mind. Whether you choose a gasoline-powered, hybrid, or fully electric model, Honda offers a comprehensive suite of warranties and support services tailored to every type of vehicle. Here’s an in-depth look at what’s included with your Honda—and how it protects your investment.

Standard Warranty Coverage

All Honda vehicles come with a standard warranty, covering defects in materials or workmanship under normal use.

  • Powertrain Warranty (Gas models):
    5 years / 100,000 km
  • Distributor’s Warranty (EV models):
3 years / 60,000 km, whichever comes first
  • Wear Items (e.g. bulbs, wiper blades):
    1 year / 20,000 km

Powertrain Warranty

Extending beyond basic coverage, this warranty protects key drivetrain components. It’s fully transferable (with registration through Honda) and requires no deductible, providing long-term assurance whether you keep or resell your vehicle.

Roadside Assistance Included

From the moment you purchase your Honda, Honda Plus Roadside Assistance is active for a full 3 years, available 24/7 across Canada and the U.S.

Services include:

  • Towing
  • Lockout assistance
  • Battery boosts or fuel delivery
  • Emergency transportation
  • Accident support
  • Temporary vehicle rental
  • Dealer locator services

All authorized drivers of the vehicle are covered.

Emissions and Hybrid System Coverage

Honda guarantees compliance with Canadian emissions standards. If an emissions component fails due to a manufacturing defect, repairs will be made free of charge—within the warranty period.

For hybrid models, major hybrid system components like the electric motor, high-voltage battery, and converters are fully covered for defects in materials or workmanship, including parts and labour.

Rust and Corrosion Protection

Honda offers two forms of corrosion protection:

  • Rust Perforation Warranty:
Covers rust-through (from the inside out) on body panels, with no mileage limit over a fixed time period.
  • Surface Corrosion Warranty:
Covers visible rust on painted surfaces for 3 years, with unlimited kilometres, excluding damage from external sources like rock chips or acid rain.

Audio, Navigation & Genuine Accessories

  • OEM audio and navigation systems:
    Covered for 3 years / 60,000 km.
(Dealer-installed components not made by Honda may not be covered.)
  • Genuine Honda accessories:
If installed before delivery, coverage matches the vehicle warranty.
If installed after purchase, they’re covered for 1 year / 20,000 km minimum.
(Labour not covered if not installed by a Honda dealer.)

Battery Warranty

The original vehicle battery is covered for 3 years, with no mileage limit (on a pro-rated basis). Defective batteries are replaced at no cost, including parts and labour.

More Than Just a Warranty

Honda’s coverage goes far beyond the basics—protecting the mechanical systems, electronics, bodywork, and accessories that make your vehicle complete. Whether you drive a Civic, CR-V, or the upcoming Prelude, every Honda owner can enjoy greater confidence knowing that maintenance and unexpected repairs are supported by a robust protection plan.

For full warranty details or to clarify specific coverage terms, be sure to consult your owner’s warranty manual or speak with a Honda dealership advisor.
