The Honda Civic has been the most popular sedan in Canada for over twenty years and the freshly redesigned 2022 version will continue this tradition for many years to come. Here are three advantages the new Civic has over the 2022 Mazda 3.
The 2022 Honda Civic is a more spacious vehicle than the 2022 Mazda 3. Indeed, the cabin of the Civic benefits from more space in almost every direction when compared with the Mazda 3. The front headroom is more generous by 43 millimetres in the front and 10 millimeters in the rear. Both front and rear occupants benefit from more shoulder space and the rear passengers have more room to stretch their legs, with almost 60 millimeters more in the Civic.
More Power and Less Fuel
The 2022 Civic benefits from all of Honda’s know-how in terms of powertrains. Both the standard 2.0L and the available turbocharged 1.5L engines are among the most efficient on the market, meaning that they are able to produce more power with less fuel than their competitors. This translates to a higher base engine power figure than the Mazda and lower fuel consumption numbers across the board. Indeed, the 2.0L Civic only requires 7.7 L/100 km in the city and 6.0 L/100 km on the highway, while the Mazda 3 equipped with its base engine, also a 2.0L, needs 8.9 L/100 km in the city and 6.5 L/100 km on the highway in the same circumstances. The Civic’s advantage is even more pronounced when it comes to the available turbocharged engines. The turbo 1.5L powered Civic returns fuel economy figures of 7.6 L/100 km in the city and 6.1 L/100 km on the highway, which is less than the turbo Mazda since it needs 10.1 L/100 km and 7.3 L/100 km in the city and on the highway respectively.
