Honda has unveiled the all-new 2022 Honda Civic, the 11th generation of Canada's best-selling vehicle for the last 23 years. As expected, this is major news and the new Honda Civic certainly does not disappoint when it comes to the improvements that have been made.
The Civic starts off with a new exterior design which is a lot sportier than the outgoing model. The new Civic rides on a new platform which is more rigid in order to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness felt inside. The Honda Civic also gets a brand-new redesigned interior which is cleaner and more elegant along with more technology being found across the board.
The first thing you will notice is the new digital instrument cluster, something we don't find very often in this segment. The new centre touchscreen measures 7 inches standard, and there is also a 9-inch option available. This system houses an improved infotainment system which will be faster and that will include wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There's also a wireless charging system for your phone, a heated steering wheel, and a Bose premium sound system. In other words, there is a lot going on inside and the improvements are everywhere.
The Civic will not only be more comfortable, but it will also be more spacious, and it features 419 L of cargo space in the back. This is more than what most compact sedans offer.
The 2022 Honda Civic also gets improvements in safety including a revolutionary new airbag design which delivers remarkable safety in front angled collisions. This new airbag design has won numerous awards and is capable of making sure your head doesn't rotate on the airbag in order to prevent injuries in multiple different collision scenarios. There's also a new Traffic Jam Assist system as well as and improved blind spot monitoring system and rear lateral airbags.
The 2022 Honda Civic will be powered by a 2 L four-cylinder engine which delivers 158 horsepower along with 138 lb-ft of torque. This engine is similar to the one found in the current Civic, but it will be more fuel efficient by 0.2 L per 100km. The turbocharged 1.5 L 4-cylinder gets an improvement in power and now delivers 180 horsepower, and it also features an improved fuel economy rating average of 0.3 L per 100 km.
