For two decades now, the Honda CR-V has been one of the most popular SUVs among enthusiasts. Over the years, it has built a solid reputation to the point where its purchase is now a sure value. The problem is knowing which trim to choose. We'll go over it with you.
1 - LX
The LX trim is your first step with the CR-V, and contrary to what you might think, it doesn't compromise, as it's well equipped and can be delivered in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration. It's your choice.
As for the proposed equipment, it is astonishing. The model comes with heated front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear bench, a 7-inch screen for the audio system, a keyless entry system, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated mirrors and wipers with defroster function. The model rides on 17-inch wheels and offers several standard safety features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and LED daytime running lights.
Like all CR-Vs, it's equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine (190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque), best known for its frugal fuel consumption; 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway (7.4 with AWD).
2 - Sport
The Sport variant, as the name suggests, adds a touch of sportiness to the model. On board, for example, there's some sports pedals, seats that combine fabric and leatherette, while the steering wheel offers a heated function. There's also a HomeLink system (integrated garage door opener), a 12-way power driver's seat, a rear cargo cover and a power-opening tailgate. The model has 19-inch wheels, which adds to the appearance. The Sport Package also features mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED fog lights and the LaneWatch blind spot monitoring system, which broadcasts the image captured by a camera located under the right-side mirror.
3 - EX-L
By upgrading to the EX-L trim, speakers are added to the audio system to bring the total to eight. Sirius XM satellite radio is also present. In addition, there's an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, memory function for the driver's position and power adjustments (4) for the passenger seat. The model features 18-inch wheels.
4 - Touring
Finally, by opting for the Touring version, we go for the ultimate. Navigation is included, along with ambient lighting, wireless cell phone charging and a higher quality audio system. The model also offers LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and alerts for blind spots and rear cross-traffic.
Note that it is possible to add the Black Edition package which adds a touch of black all around, especially with the seats and wheels.
